OUR BELIEFS

REC MEMBERS

At Bishop Cummins Reformed Episcopal Church, we are members of the Reformed Episcopal Church. Theologically, we are the offspring of the Reformation in England, and the formation of the Church of England.

BIBLICAL

At our very foundation is our belief and reliance on the Holy Scriptures. We believe the Bible to be inspired by God, through His Holy Spirit, to the men who penned it. As such, it is fully reliable in all things, and is our primary authority in all matters of faith and life.

CREEDAL

Additionally, we subscribe to three of the great Creeds of the Christian Church. A creed is a summary of our beliefs in a “bite-sized” format which summarizes the basics of the Christian Faith. The Apostles’ Creed, the Nicene Creed, and the Athanasian Creed, spell out line by line, exactly the doctrine which we hold in common with all of Christianity. These Creeds are important and helpful because they are faithful to the Scriptures in proclaiming the One Triune God and the work of God in our redemption.

39 ARTICLES

We also hold to the 39 Articles of Religion, which were written during the Reformation of the Church in England.

With these four serving as our legs to a well balanced stool, we seek to follow what God has provided for us in order to arrange our lives in such a way as would be pleasing to Him.
