Pastor Cedric Benner
Rector

I was born and raised in a Christian home where my parents regularly went to church and participated in church life. They conscientiously taught me the Bible and tried to live and model the Christian life. When I was in 8th grade I came to trust in Christ as Lord and Savior through a series of conversations with Christian friends, reading through the Gospel of John, and the preaching ministry of Billy Graham. During my time in high school I occasionally taught Sunday School and small group Bible studies and really enjoyed the work of preparation as well as teaching God’s Word. I had an inward sense of God’s call to teach and preach God’s Word which was confirmed by God’s people.

I graduated from Bryan College in Dayton, Tennessee, in 1986 with a BA degree as a Bible major. From there I went on to Biblical Theological Seminary in Hatfield, Pennsylvania, and graduated with a Master of Divinity degree in 1990. I was ordained as a minister of the Gospel in the Presbyterian Church in America and served as an associate pastor of Lansdale Presbyterian Church from 1992-1996. Next I received a call from St. Luke’s Reformed Episcopal Church in New Providence, New Jersey, to serve as its pastor. I served at St. Luke’s from 1997 to Easter Sunday 2008. I was the assistant pastor of Bishop Cummins from April 6, 2008-May 31, 2015.  I was called in July 24, 2015 to be the rector of Bishop Cummins Church.  I am committed to God and His Word and I have a desire to see God’s people grow in their faith in the Lord.

I have a wonderful wife, Sarah, and we are blessed to have three children: Bria, Devin, and Madison. I enjoy hiking and reading books in the genres of biography, U.S. history, and crime mystery.
